August 24 Health Care Reform!The national debate over health care reform has been hijacked by the right leaning crazies. Their intent is to avoid any real debate regarding resturcturing our health care system. Today contract negotiations are dominated by discussions about the high cost of health insurance, almost to the exclusion of everything else. That's because we are being dictated to by a handful of insurance companies that dominate the industry. The only time in recent memory that there was any real competition among insurance carriers was when the Clinton Administration was trying to develop a national health care plan. The lesson is, unless health care reform offers a government run plan to choose from, there is no real pressure on the insurance companies to be competitive.
